Heres the tsrm..it says it goes to nowhere

Right where that box is, there is a long coolant hose, its at the back of the motor on the passengers side from the block, and it reaches up to where the thermostat housing is, but i dont see any connections for it.

It is a cap ;)

It's for the heater return line on Rt Hand drive cars. On a lot of USDM motors (like mine), it's not even there at all...however, there are a lot of USDM motors that have it too. I think Toyota used whatever they had on hand during assembly.

Its not a hose, its a rubber block cap and its only on the early motors. It is a good idea to change it periodically.

Ok. Well regardless of what that picture says, there is a 3 foot long coolant hose coming from right where that is at with a clamp on the end, so I must have removed it from something..

so are you saying im supposed to find something to plug this hose with

And I see where the coolant hoses go into the firewall for the heater, where is the return from the heater?

I'd already mentioned that in another one of your threads. Rerout the coolant hoses to MATCH your old engine. On the USDM that side is capped and the long hose is connected on the other side. On RHD MKIIIs it's capped on the LH side, LHD it's capped on the RH side.

Im not following what you are saying. This is the same engine thats always been in this car. I never took the block out

I am assuming that you are not the original owner, and some one at some time must have did something funky with it or didn't know what they were doing.

Just hook everything up as shown in the illustration and dont worry about it.

Are you sure you read my question.

My question was, I dont know where to hook it up to. I am the one who unhooked it, and I am here asking where this coolant hose that i described is supposed to go.

Sorry man... The long hose connects to the pipe opening on the opposite side of the cap that your illustration points to. From there it connects to the heatercore at the firewall. The part you're pointing to in the picture is supposed to be capped off.

Ok, so is the heater core port on the drivers side? The hose on the top back of the head is connect to the firewall on the passenger side, and I didnt see any more connections into the firewall near it

It's not soppost to be a hose, just a little rubber cap. Someone has put that hose on there. Just get a cap and put it on there inplace of the hose and call it done.

Ok, what can i use for a cap. What i dont get is...there was no cap on it when i took the head off..so i dont understand what was stopping cooant from flowing out of it in the first place.

Someone's probably done some creative plumbing... I wouldn't be surprised if it's a JDM engine opr at least from a RHD MKIII.

The Hose coming off the top of the head at the rear runs to the heater core control valve and from there to a fire wall inlet below it.

Yea i got that part. I was wondering if you meant there was a nother heater connection this hose was supposed to go to. damn this hose is gay. What should i put a bag over it and rubber band it ha

ok, here is how to hook it all up.

top of union on back of head to heater control valve.
side of union on back of head to heater engine pipe work
cap port in question
left (driver side) pipe port to firewall

in the event that someone has done something really funky, with it hooked up as its soppost to be, you will find the problem as you add coolent cause it will start to leak somewhere.

as for a block cap, any local auto parts store should have those rubber caps
