Hey sorry if this is a previous thread, but I have a little emergency. I sprayed some kitchen de-greaser on my tires to get all of the tire shine off in order to have a clean shine when i shine them again. Worked great... but it also DESTROYED THE PAINT ON MY STOCK SAWBLADES! it's all oxidized and looks terrible, and I am putting my car in a car show tomorrow!

I want to just bring it down to bear metal, and I dont really have a few days to buff them out. Has anyone used paint stripper on the sawblades, and if so, what was your experience?

All I have to say is good luck.. it is going to take a while to get all the rime to look good after taking the paint off.

I used the Aircraft Paint Stripper to strip down my 5 spokes and it came off really easily. I left it on maybe 30 seconds or less on each wheel and it got most of it off in that time. If there is still some on there, just repeat and it should bubble up and come right off.

I wouldn't leave it on there any more than a minute or so or else it will make it look bad. I thought I saw a thread on here where someone left it on for the amount of time the can says and it ended up really messing it up.

It's in a blue can with a white cap, and I think I paid maybe $5 or $6 for it. I think I ended up getting 2 cans for stripping mine and didn't use most of the second, so it should be enough for sawblades.

EDIT TO ADD: That 2 cans I used to strip was for the stock paint. I just stripped a set of 5 spokes that I had to use 4 cans of Aircraft Paint Stripper to get it all off. The paint and sandable primer came off easily, but the self-etching primer is a real pain.

Thanks everyone for the input. I ended up buying the aircraft stripper, and it worked well. Paint stripped off in about 30 seconds, but there were quite a few stubborn spots that i had to work out. I spent about 2 hours, and they looked decent, although they still need a little polishing to perfect them.

thanks again
