well i was working on my car today, trying to fix the damn compressor surge ive been having. (probobly caused by my vacum leak.) i came across a ticking sound around 2k rpms.

at this point i needed a new pair of underwear because i thought i had rod knock

but with the proper research i found this

http://www.supramania.com/forums/showthread.php?t=20486

and it turns out its my valvetrain. so im thinkin its my exhaust side cam.

the knock is only around 2k and faint. at 3k it completley stops and my engine sounds like a monster ^____^ nor does it sound like that during idle

NOT MY CAR!!!! BUT HERES A VIDEO OF A ROD KNOCK SUPRA..

i've had cam gear knock, check my videos on youtube, search ag6286 and you will see them.

cam gear knock IS NOT at all common. Mine happened b/c they were shitty cam gears. Bad clearances with the vales and cams are very common and create a loud ticking noise. Typically, its NOT isolated to just one side but both from excessive wear. If that's the case, its time for a rebuilt head or at least a good shim job

rod knock varies with severity. It could be a very light tap to something like in the video or worse, it depends if you've slipped the bearing completely out like that guy did or if your clearances have simply increased out of spec.
