I recently picked up a 89 supra na that a member here had turned into a turbo. It has everything from wiring to transmission from the turbo car. When I purchased it it had a blown motor. I had a rebuilt (stock internals) motor left from a project that did not fall through and put that one in.
The motor has stock bearings, rods, pistons, new oil squirters, oil pump, internal oil pick up line upgrade, new rebuilt head, all new seals and gaskets from Toyota, metal head gasket with ARP head studs (torqued to 95 lbs.), cleaned and flowed tested stock 440cc injectors, and everything has been torqued to specs. The turbo is a rebuilt unit off my brother's 3sgte and I believe it is a 50 trim. I also replaced all water and oil hoses on the motor for extra security because I did not want to deal with any leaks once it was installed. All belts are new as well as the water pump.
I have currently put about 1000 miles on the motor using sae 30 weight oil initially then changed it after taking the car out for about 5 miles. I then changed it again at 500 miles and just recently when it hit the 1000 mile mark using 5w30 motor oil. Engine starts up strong and runs smooth and has not seen any boost nor WOT runs. It has been babied and probably will not see any of that until about 2000 miles ( if I still have it by then ). I have an XTD clutch (I know not the best, I bought if before the review went up) in it that has the same amount of mileage as the motor. It has stock sawblades with decent tires on them. The car is currently brown but will be in the shop to have it resprayed black ppg paint. The interior is grey and pretty clean with the exception of the dash which is cracked. It is a hard top and has the 4.3 lsd (that is what I was told). The transmission is the r154 with some sort of short shifter...I know it is not stock because the throws are a bit shorter and are not as smooth.
I have recently moved and my new place does not allow me to keep another vehicle and so it has to go. It was either the supra or the 4runner and I have 2 children, so it has to be the supra. I just wanted to know what I should ask for it before I post it up for sale officially. What a better place than the community that loves the car itself as I do. All comments and questions are welcome as it only better educates me.
Moderators, I am not trying to sell the vehicle just yet, just needed some inputs, that is why I posted in the general question section. Once I decide to sell it I will post it in the appropriate forum. Thanks in advance for your replies.:icon_bigg
