Hi everyone I' am starting this thread just to get everything straight on BHG, and i am currently thinking about going MHG for my 1989 7mgte but i have done a some research and it seems like everyone has different opinions on what to do and whats best for someone else to do. But i am trying to find out what you the owner have done to your car and how it worked out.

I have heard that only the head needed to be lapped, and others say both the head a block need to be lapped, and some say lapping would only get you the same finish as the orginal finish which is alread pretty smooth. I also heard that when they machine your head they do it in a circular motion leaving scrapes a thousandths and an inch deep which is bad, but if you have a mirror finish that is also bad because then the gasket will slip. :aigo: See why i am so confused.

Now i have no idea what to do, thats why i want to hear from the people who have replaced their stock head gaskets with MHGs. I wnat to know what you guys did and how long has it has been working out for you guys THANKS

::bhg:: :nono:

I never had a BHG, but since i bought my motor already taken apart, i did the Cometic MHG/ARPs. I bought a brand new head and used the block I had. i took it to a machine shop and he resurfaced the deck of the block, I know that Cometic says a roughness average of 50 for their gasket. The head was left alone since it was brand new. put the studs in at 80ft-lbs. i only just got my car running, and havent driven it on the street yet.
