wet spark plugs?

when u get your spark plugs wet does the car feel like it has no power? my dad decided to open the radiator and it exploded and some water got onto the engine and the car started but it feels like it has no power it sounds like a motorcycle? did my spark plugs get wet? if so how long or whats the best thing i can do to dry them?

what do you mean by they got into the engine? did it just spray all over the engine bay? or did they get into the cylinders... please be more specific

on the top of it like on the valve covers, i pulled the spark plugs and there is water in side im trying to dry it off

yep its a bitch to dry out. took me 2 days. i even tried a torch. best bet is to vacuum it out and use compressed air to dry.

so the top terminal of the spark plug is wet and not the electrode, if so then just attempt to dry them off along with the plugs. I don't see how the plugs allowed water to seep through?

when i bought my car the previous owner told me not to wash down the motor bc of this and this a new engine so im guessing it happens to other people too? I was using compressed air to dry it but couldnt get to the plugs under the throttle body, going to have to let them dry :/

what did you dad do remove the cap when the engine was hot with out releasing the pressure? thats no good. your supposed to wait a few min for the pressure to release or slowly release the pressure by slowly turning the cap barely. there is 13psi going threw the entire cooling system.

yeah i had the hood up letting cool off and i go inside and i see him opening it and bam like a 3 foot blast good thing it landed on the engine and not his face -.-

sounds like a GE right? i would check the distributor, some times water can get in there, and it wouldnt hurt to take the throttle body off and just reuse the old gasket, just take it off slowly to be safe and could always use a little bit of RTV if the gasket ever rips, and then try it up. i did the same to my 7mge when i had it, and i even had tons of oil in my GTE due to the bad valve cover gasket, and that took care of it once i took every thing apart

could u damage the car by driving it like this? it jerks around bad and i dont think its fully dry. cant get to the plugs under the throttle body. the car is running really rich.

we told you what to do!

unbolt the throttle body.there are 4 bolts and it takes 10 min tops. use a shop vac with a small tube. blow out the remainder with compressed air, plugs, wires and all. DONE.
