starter bendix is goin out, mine did the same thing and continued to get worse untill it would take me up to 15 min. to get the car to finally crank. Got the starter rebuilt for around $30 and never had a problem since.

Solenoid on you're starter... ether its gummed up or its simply just to dirty (its basically sparks every time you switch it over (its like a see saw.. with a small magnet moving it) so a peace of carbon might be in the middle. If you jump start it it could have enough juice to jump the gap that you're new battery is lacking. Or you could also try banging on it.. there is a little set of teeth that come out onto the fly wheel and that might of got stuck too... if its manual just leave it in gear and push it to move the fly wheel.

To fix you're starter just take it apart (solenoid only) and clean the fucker, that is if it was working strong before.

If it makes a ticking noise on the passengers side\/\/\/

Its you're alarm, try reseting it by unlocking the doors with the key.

Werd- Take the starter out, clean the solenoid contacts with some emory cloth/sandpaper, do the same to the plunger, clean out any particles, and lube the plunger shaft. OR, you can completely replace the contacts for about $14.

Easy tigers.....

Try this first.

There is the starter signal wire that comes out the back of the starter. 50% or more of the time, this is the "Dead starter, it just clicks, I hear nothing" problem.

Take the wire with connector off the back of the starter, and clean.
