So, this morning, drove to school, like a 2 mile suburban drive, drove normal, no flooring or anything. I'm sitting in the parking lot idling waiting for someone, standing outside my car. After about 10 minutes (while still on) coolant just starts gushing out. Like in about 45 sec I lost what looked like at least 1.5+ gallons. It was just pouring--but from the reservoir overflow. What? I know the radiator wasn't even fully filled or anything. As soon as I realized what was happening I turned the car off. After about 20 sec I thought to check temp gauge-just about 1/2 even. Soooo, 2 people suggested that it could just be the radiator cap, the spring in it is bad and letting too much coolan into the reservoir, and then Toyota said it could be that, or that my block might not be evenly planed (engine was rebuilt appx 10-15k mi ago-presumably due to BHG but it was before I got the car so iono) so the HG could be going....Any thoughts?
And yeah I'm pricing compression tests in case a new rad cap doesn't work. But then you hafta replace all the spark plugs right (or risk putting them back into damaged seats)? TIA!
