Weird brake problem. Scared to drive car now.

So for the past week, I've been getting a buzzing noise from the brake booster when I apply the brakes for the first time since starting the engine.

And while I get this buzzing sound, the pedal feels stuck and wont go down further. Meaning the brakes will not apply and stop the car.

The buzzing sound happens as I have my foot pressed on the brake pedal and only lasts for a couple seconds.

But it only happens when I first start the engine. After that it will do it acouple times then it goes away and the car brakes like normal.

I tried bleeding the system and it still does it.

I'm afraid I need a new brake booster. has anybody else herd of this before?

To be safe don't drive it until you replace it. Bleeding won't help it since it runs off the vacuum from the intake manifold.

Any idea on how much a new brake booster goes for?

Is it something I can get at Napa or Autozone, or should I start searching Ebay and Junkyards?

Check your vacuum hose and check valve at the booster first.

I double checked all my vac hoses. They're all good. My idle is perfect. No hissing sounds under the hood.

I just checked EBay.

$30-$40 for a used one. + $12-$15 for shipping.



Anybody have any tips on changing this thing out? The dash doesn't have to come out does it?

Check that out. (PS I do not think you have to remove dash, just a panel from below thats all)
