w58 tranny questions

oh so im looking for a replacement w58 transmission will the newer generation, the mk4 supra/sc300 bolt up to my 7mge? is it too diferent? is it just the bellhousings? is the new generation bellhousing unboltable and can i put my bellhousing onto the newer generations w58? does it not matter and i can just bolt it onto my 7m?im confused.

The MKIV/SC300 W58 has a different shifter, and has a different belhousing vs the MKIII W58. All W series transmissions have removable belhousings. I'm not sure if you can swap shifters, but if you try you would need to remove the tail housing and swap the socket receivers (the part that the shifter actually moves to switch gears).

Lower is the shifter tower from the MKIV W58, the upper is from the MKIII.
