I am looking to purchase a video camera within the next couple weeks, but I don't know much about them. I don't want to spend more than $600 and I think I want to keep it either MiniDV or HDD since I hear the DVD ones fail and arent as good as HDD. The 3CCD camcorders I hear are awesome, but I would be getting into professional camcorders that cost over $1k.

What do you guys recommend for around $600?

Sony makes some nice Mini DV cameras as well as FUJI. The 3ccd cameras are just higher quality images but for the money they aren't worth it unless you're trying to make money or do your own independent films. I like my lil Sony it's 5 years old now but still does alright, quality construction anyways and I've taken ti a lot of dirty places to use it. Good luck and have fun with it.

SONY hanycam or CANON.
sony or canon all the way.
i own a sony, and its great.
One thing you might want to do though, is get one with a microphone jack, sony handycam's dont have it, so u might want to go with canon, because its pretty useful if you ever decide to make a movie, instead of just shooting videos, etc. I got mine for around 600, then 100 for the warranty, but its worth it.
