env is too thick for me. go for the chocolate's flip phone brother, the vx8600. i got that a few months ago and haven't looked back since.

the mp3 features are nice, touch sensitive buttons are great (cause they're not needed to use the main features), menus are easy to use and the screens are nice and clear. camera takes good pics, and volume is pretty damn loud when it needs to be. i havent had an issue in 4 months, and battery life is excellent. the bluetooth headset (lg's 7xx) works great with the bluetooth on the phone, no static and it's plenty loud with no echo.

the bad: buttons were hard to use for the first day til my big fingers became adjusted to the smaller buttons.

lemme know if you want details on any specific features or pics of the phone.

My old phone, the vx8100 never was loud for mp3's, and im trying to find one that will play loud. Also, can you use your own mp3's or wma's off your computer or do you have to by them off a site? I was thinking about the vx8500(chocolate), but ive heard the screens go bad fast....i guess not.

I love my enV. It's not the slimmest phone, but I can still forget it's there when it's in the belt clip. I'm a big guy though, so to me smaller isn't always better.

I've got the extended battery, and if I don't use bluetooth too often, I can get 6-7 days out of the battery. I get this battery life while talking 300-400 minutes, web browsing 150-300 minutes and texting 200+ messages a month.

I wouldn't say that MP3 playback is loud, but it's decent for giving some background tunes while working in the garage as long as the phone isn't too far away from you.

You can use MP3s as ringers if you load them on a microSD card and send them to yourself via multimedia message. Even if you don't have a data plan it's still way cheaper paying for a multimedia message than buying an overpriced ringtone. Plus it's not hard to do--if you check www.howardforums.com the topic of putting MP3 ringers on phones has been beaten to death.

The only thing I don't like about this phone is that the speakerphone function only works while the phone is flipped open. Not really a big deal but something you should know before you buy it.

For good phone feature comparisons, check out www.phonescoop.com - plenty of good side by side comparos as well as site and user reviews. Also check howard forums (www.howardforums.com) for info on verizon phones.

Hope this helps!

chocolate here,

meh, its a phone, and the screen gets scratched to shit if you forget to put your keys in a different pocket.

if ya wanna listen to music you gotta buy the mini xd card for it from verizon, and if you wanna listen to it ya gotta buy the damn headphones w/ the tiney ass jack on it. gotta pay extra for the vcast, and extra if you want to use the navigation feature (which isnt all that bad actually)

I had "The V" when it first came out. I loved that phone. Now I have the Chocolate. I liked it at first but the phone is too delicate for me. I've had 2 Chocolates. The first one, the call touch button stopped working 3 days into having the phone and my current ones screen is cracked and half of the buttons dont work. Thank god for the voice commands so I can still call people. Verizons internet service made me angry one day so I punched the phone and cracked the screen. And the voice command feature wasn't working properly so I got mad and threw it at the floor yesterday. Battery flew out but it still works the way it did prior to the throw. I'm ready to get an EnV.

Yes, I'm an angry individual. :biglaugh:

Yeah, the one thing that makes me think I won't stay with Verizon long-term is their stupid proprietary software. Can't put opera mini on my phone like I could with my Sprint phone. Opera mini is so configurable and well written; I've opened Supramania and tons of other sites from my GF's Katana, whereas the dumbed down Openwave browser that comes on most non-PDA phones (including the enV) chokes and crashes on all but the simplest websites.

But that's an issue with Verizon's restrictive policies and not really an issue with any of their phones, per se.

This is one of the reasons my phone quit after a year. The vx8100 was supposed to be so good........worst phone ive ever had. The last 3-4 weeks, the phone started calling people by itself, when listening to music.....it would turn the volume itself, and what pissed me off to no end it would lock itself during a call! So, phone meet wall....battery flew out....popped it back in...fired it up...white screen....IT surrendered .

Yea, the Chocolate used to call people everytime I slid the top up. It would call the last person I called. I already had a memory card for "The V" so I never bought a smaller card to listen to music. I've contemplated throwing it out the window a few times while I was driving but realized I need it to send the phone back to get a new one thru insurance. I've even opened the window and tried to throw it but my girlfriend grabbed it. Worst phone I've ever owned and the service is too expensive for my tastes. Come December (when my contract is up), I'm going back to Metro-PCS or maybe T-Mobile.
