my car is a 89-t and im getting some chatter comming from the valves. not sure were to start looking but at idle they sound a little noisey. i have a jdm engine and i have put about 20000 miles on the motor sence the swap. the car runs good. no skippin or any kind of misfire or codes. but with the windows rolled up i have noticed that between 2000 rpms and 2500 rpms that i can hear what sounds like to me chattering comming from the valvetrain like i have loose rocker arms and yes i know we dont have rocker arms. and when i am sitting still and rev the motor to 2000 to 2500 rpms i can feel a vibration vibrating the whole car. its not skipping or misfireing just a slight vibration only between those rpms. it has me puzzled ? it has been doing this for a while and hasnt gotten any worse. any ideas of what it could be.

Uh-oh....between 2000 and 2500? Sounds like a classic case of rod knock to me dude. Thats when the ignition starts its initial advance....

You could try re-doing the shims and checking torque etc, but i dont hold out much hope :(

no rod knock i know what that sounds like thats why i swaped the motor. when i rev it between those rpms the motor is quiet all but the valves
