Valve keepers; can they come loose if the head's interted and the cam rotated?

Hey all,

I'm replacing my HG after it started leaking. So while cleaning up the head I had it inverted and was rotating the cam to get the valves out of the way when i heard a delicate, metallic *plink* two times. Given that I wasn't listening for it I'm not sure of where it came from but the keepers are the first things which came to mind. None of the valves are free.

I know the only way to be certain is to pull the cams, but I'd like to know just how likely it is.

Thanks!

D'oh! Didn't even think of that... I didn't pull one washer out before putting the valve covers on. I guess if I pull them and there are two sitting there I can breathe easy. LOL

Thanks for pointing out what should have been obvious. :D
