hi guys, i'm new to the supra scene and I picked up a 1988 MK3 turbo hardtop and its been kind of a unforeseen project (CL seller left out a lot of details) and I've put a lot of time into getting it running reliably and i'm noticing that I have a lot of oil flowing out of the valve cover vent lines. by saying I have a lot oil flowing out I mean at least a quart spraying out and going back into the turbo intake line and even soaking through the air filter each drive. i'm wanting to hear from any of the senior mk3 guys if they have the same issue and what would the remedy be. if I drive it hard I get a good sized cloud of smoke out the back, I've rebuilt the turbo already thinking that was the cause of the cloud at first, and what i'm hearing is that it could be the valve stem seals. thoughts?

What he said.
Sounds like a huge amount of blowby. I assume that you get a decent amount of blue smoke from the exhaust.
I would guess that piston rings would have to account for that much oil loss/ crankcase pressure.

I'm getting ready to do a compression test but like hvyman said it idles fine and isn't rough running. yes it does poor blue-ish smoke on a hard pull and on deceleration

Ran good enough that I drove it for about a month like that the shop I brought it to was sure it was my turbo and so was I until I took the exhaust manifold off and oil was dripping out of the cyl1 exhaust port... I have wished a few times I had taken a video of how it ran but I didn't

Or would it be more cost effective to just rebuild the motor cause the previous owner put in enough upgrades with the turbo, fuel system, electronics to support at least 450hp

Definitely do some research in the 1jz vs 7m thread before doing anything... Also ask yourself what your car is going to be used for..... Drag, drift, street, circle track. Ect. Ect.
