So I need a new transmission. The only one I can find near me is from an 88T but it doesn't have the ABS sensor. Does anyone know if there is a way to take the ABS sensor from my old R154 transmission and put it in the non-ABS transmission?

Hrmm. no help eh.

Well. Does anyone have a picture of a non-ABS R154, around where the ABS sensor would go?

Cool. Has this been done before?

Is the tooth wheel for the ABS inside all R154s? Just the hall sensor is missing?

sry but what? a freeze plug. i dont wanna correct but its called a core plug. and why would the abs sensor go in the core plug hole? or are there core plugs in the tranny?

they use one to block off the spot for the ABS speed sensor

like he said, knock it out, install sensor

the term "freeze plug" is a misnomer, but anyway...

Part 89548 is the ABS tooth wheel rotor that I am hoping is in the non-ABS trans. And then hopefully I can just stick my existing sensor in there and have ABS.

So what's the best way to get this core/freeze plug out?

prolly heat the area around it with a torch not burn but heating, and using a dowel and a hammer knock it into the tranny, the tail housing will have to come off any ways to put the reluctor ring on.

or you can take it out like a freezeplug, put a hole, put a screw in it and use a slide hammer (like you're pulling a dent)

you can also knock em sideways and pull em out (screwing up isn't that bad on the tranny since you can get inside to fish it out if you do, on a block it's another story...)

i actualy knock them into the block and pull them out with plyers.

done 3 blocks like this, yeah it can get frusterating atg moments when they dont come righ tback out, but if i can i knock them sideways and then pull them out so they dont actualy fall all the way in.

wouldn't recomend my method for in car repair by any means, poodles as the better way for sure for that,. mine is more engine stand material. :sarcasm:
