I've had this weird noise going on that was coming from the crank pulley, or behind it. So today I got some time, so I pulled off the upper and lower timing covers to try to find the problem. Well I pulled the lower timing cover off and this huge ring fell out, its about 1/2" bigger than the crank timing pulley, so i look at the back of the timing cover and there is a nice groove that it had milled for it self. I sent some other pics to my cousin(5+ yr. mk3 owner) he hasnt seen anything like it, he notices that my crank timing pulley doesnt have the other side rail to keep the timing belt in line. See pics.

Any idea on how much a new crank timing pulley would cost?

Any one have a used one?

Actually, I bought a timing gear BRAND NEW from TOYOTA for only $50.
(5MGE timing gear)

How amazing is that? They wanted $400+ for the crank pulley though, bastards.

How much did they want for a 7MGTE timing gear? Is the 5MGE gear the exact same as 7M gear?

No, but I really can't imagine it being too much more...

I'm sure Mr.Lange will chime in on this one

I don't know if there's any difference in years though... I don't think there is. That's for an '88.

Still would like to know what Toyota would want for a 7M timing gear, just to see if it's a lot more $ than the 5Ms...

Mk2 Supras and some Cressidas

I believe the 5M timing gear would have too small of an inside diameter for the 7M crank snout.

Yeah, I got mine for an 1985... it was like $48 + tax (although I think I might have gotten a small discount due to the guys in Toyota parts seem to love me)

1982-83 are different, have rounded teeth.
