If the fluid level is good (you check it with the trans. in park or neutral, engine running, and at operating temp., and with the parking brake ON), I'd lean toward a sticky solenoid, usually caused by contaminates from dirty fluid and a plugged up filter. Might be a good time for a trans. service...
Check for trouble codes, takes a few seconds and can tell you everything you need to know. All you need is a bent up paper clip to check for codes too.
^ that is for the engine codes but you need this for the automatic transmission. Hope this helps.

That could help but I would change it anyway. Also use Royal Purple automatic trans fluid. I used it in my 87 Turbo and it worked out well with No problems.
^I would say anywhere from $60-$140 depending on where you take it. I know sometimes aamco has specials like they had a $79.95 trans fluid service awhile ago but also sometimes I see it also for $99.95 as well and maybe get some quotes from other places.

You may also go ahead and peep ouy your slavr cylinder. It is a cheap and easy fix. Change that and you'll be full service dude.
