His profile says he has the R154, so I'm going to run with that.

A few of the big number guys have destroyed trannies, Will Neely is reputed to have claimed he could destroy one on demand with 733hp.

Seems like the guys under 700 have been mostly ok with them, though.

That's alot of freakin hp! We're talking NASCAR hp almost.

I think at that point I'd look at doing an M22 muncie conversion, w/custom gear ratio's. I don't think many other tranny's would hold up for any amount of time.

R154 would hold up fine if it had straight cut gears IMHO...

it would completely negate the forces on the thrust washers which are usually the part to go...

I'm rebuilding my r154 to go into my Supra as we speak. When my engine is all said and done, if my r154 gives up the ghost - I'm going T56, and not looking back.

Poodles the transmission would be annoyingly loud with all straight cut gears.
But yeah would hold up a lot better.

Same plan I have except I'm running a w58.

true, but it seems to be only one thrust washer that gets taken out, and it's related to first gear...

get straight cut first and second gears and you'd be fine on the highway and around town...

now if only someone made them...
