Since I see the occasional thread about installing a 6 speed in the A70 chassis, I found the following information that I had stored away. The bolded ratios are the ones that already come in an A70 chassis, however, it shoud be possible to use 8" differentials from other models, some of which may have the taller ratios which will allow first gear to be actually useful.

To do so, I believe that you'll need the 8" ring gear in a 4 pinion configuration. I don't know if the LSD clutch pack can be installed into a differential that didn't already have it, but you may be able to find one that already has it.

Some combinations of ratio and ring gear may exist, however, this information will decode the data tag information.

Pinion codes are of no importance, unless you are trying to buy a stock replacement differential.

Yes, other 8" ("G" code) will fit our housing,
but may not match out output flanges.
(like the T1 Torsen helical from the JZA70, which takes special shafts)

But other "G" housings will not fit the MA70.
Their mountings are completely different.
Like the Cressida housing,
which is held in with 3 bolts, not 6.

Other gear sets were available in Japan,
but most likely from people like ATS, or OS Giken.

I have a set of 4.56 in my car right now, that came out of Japan,
and there is a guy on eBay who imports, that has a set of 4.88s.

That looks like helene and mattis list.

Are you saying that you don't think the ring and pinions will swap? They will.

And great ring and pinions are available at most of the gear places.

This excludes just swapping the ring and pinion themselves, right?

Yes sir.

He said "differentials".
I was talking about complete differentials.
