Towing my Supra

Ok, so SILV is coming up soon, and I would like to tow my Supra there with a dolly or a tow bar. I wasn't sure about which wheels should be on the ground while towing...does the driveshaft have to be disconnected if towing with all four wheels on the ground? My car is 5-Spd.

If you put it on a dolly, put the back wheels on it and let the fronts free wheel. How far are you hauling it?

Just get a full car trailer. So much better for the car.

You shouldn't dolly the car either way, but definitely not with the front tires on the ground. The steering wheel lock isn't strong enough, it could break and the car would steer wherever it wanted to and you know what it would do? The wheel would go to full lock in either direction, and that would be a horrible thing.

That's only like 4hrs. I wouldn't worry at all. Just gather up some supra buddies and trek together.

Towed mine 1000 miles on the tow dolly I was worried the whole time about the steering lock holding. i now use a full trailer for anything over 500 miles (one way) or when i am going to get a new one I use a trailer no matter what. Any way story time The first supra I ever bought I used the dolly to go from Louisiana to illinois. we went in my parents 42 ft desiel RV no problems got the car began to head back get about 1 hour from home pull off at a home depot to check the car and everything. All looks ok so we get back on the road... On the on ramp to get back on the interstate the drive shaft FALLS OUT of the RV awww crap!!! So long story short the steering lock held up but the $400.000 bus did not. For the record the bus had 25.000 miles on it. And my dads buddy had to come get us the dolly and the car with his 3rd gen 4runner. Toyotas help Toyotas
