To the shop I go...

I'm taking my car into a performance shop and getting a MHG put on my stock 7mgte due to recent BHG. I have 2600 to 3000 dollars to work with. My goals are a very strong base to work off so I can build on engine internals and then later on do things like FMIC, aftermarket exhaust, electronics, bigger turbo yata yata yata. Should I purchase the parts I want installed, head gasket of choice (keep in mind I want to go with a high pressure turbo (15-25psi) down the line...so i want to make sure I have the right compression for that), valves, valve springs....or...should I let them choose what they think is best. The performance shop is run by Steve Ashworth, a very respectable man in the performance automotive business...built many drag engines/race engines. I just don't know how I should go about this and am looking for some advice, technical specs I should have in mind for them. Also I'm guessing while the engine is taken apart, I should probably have them overhaul it, new gaskets all around. Any input that is helpful would be great and I'd really appreciate it.

Thanks all.

make sure both head and deck are surfaced, some say it's not needed, but if you want a good seal have it done, i blew a mhg by doing the head alone,

also bearings are a good choice,
if you replace the rod bolts make sure they are check for proper round, and if needed have them resized to prevent rod knock.

rod bolts should not be hammered out.
unless you plan to resize them, still a common mistake though,

i would ask for detail on what the bearings and rings were set at, and also deck and head surface ra specs. your looking for about 25 or so.
