Anyone got some tips on what you do to tighten the belt on the power steering pump?

While its in the car I've found it very difficult to "pull" on the pump and tighten the adjusting bolt at the same time... anyone found a decent way?

Thanks,
Tom

Thanks IJ, any more specifics? eg. Any ideas where you placed the extension bar to lever?

I feel like I'm either going to break my fan shroud or something else!

I come from a land down under
LOL only by 95kw even on my uncorrected pull!

It highlights just how low our dyno's read compared to the US ones when you look at the majority of the higher HP cars were Mk4's!

Hahah yeah, I blame the dyno too! ;)

Well, I found I could chuck a huge screwdriver between the coolant outlet + PS resevoir bracket down onto the back of the PS pump for a good bit of leverage and now it seems nice and tight.

Took it for a drive and it seemed to steer well, but the big test will be tomorrow morning after leaving it overnight for the fluid to get cold.

Thanks IJ. :)

Even better, Tom, is to get a large breaker bar and a friend. That is what I ended up doing. That way, he/she can hold the tension while you tighten the bolt.

I had my father holding the long screwdriver lever for me, whilst I tightened the bolt, but its actually getting enough leverage+force on the pump which seems to be the hard part!

Plus, I didn't want to crack my coolant outlet whilst using it as a lever. Although I'm not sure how likely that would be.
