so last night i went to wrap some electrical tape around the very end of the engine harness and stopped right before the injectors. after putting it back together the car started acting funny. it sputtered and misfire and had a vrey rough idle. i checked for codes but all i get is code 51. i had code 51 even prior to last night? so once the car is started it idles rough. ide say between 1k to 1.2k. then about 15 secs. later the rpm would start getting lower and lower until it just shuts off.
ive check the timing which was good. i checked the TPS which was good. i also check the cam position sensor....good....all pipes and hoses. checked the AFM..good..
ive checked every thing and still, nothing. i dont know what to do anymore. im pretty sure im going to get fire today just cuz its a pretty important day to be at work but i cant even get to it?

somebody please help!!!

What else were you messing with before you was wrapping up shit with electrical tape, and why were you doing this in the first place?

that was about it. i was wrapping up the wires cuz they were all popping out and i was afraid that something would get cut or burnt.

no. no. no....i started wrapping from the end of the engine harness which i think is the rod knock sensor up to the AFM clip kept going up to the clips near the cam sensor and across the timing belt. thats it.

You've more than likely shorted out an old ass, brittle wire somewhere, or something was unplugged. The proper thing to do would have been to repair the old wires and cover them with split loom.

at the end of the engine harness there are two connectors i know for sure that one goes to the rod knock sensor. the other seemed not to have a partnee am i correct on that one. as for the wires. should i unwrap the harness and check to see if i broke a wire?

Not bad engine, bad owner.

*How* did you check those things? I love it when someone says they "checked" something. For all I know they haven't a clue how to do it right.

Last time I'm gonna say it: fix the code 51 first. As long as you have it there is no hope of the idle being right.

i finally got it.
this one is for jetjock i know that youve been telling to fix code 51 first. but i was stuck earlier cus the car wouldnt even start. so i couldnt even check for codes.

my original set up was hks BOV not 3 inch muffler and 3 inch piping to match it.
after replacing the AFM, the TPS, going back to the stock BOV or bypass valve and i tiny tweek in the cam sensor i fired her up and she never sang so beautiful. the idle was great along with the acceleration.

thanks for everybodies help!!
