So, mine went. I havent seen whether its the pulley, or the arm. But im fairly sure i snapped the arm in half. So im looking for a new one. Does anyone know where i can get one? Stock replacment or aftermarket (preffered)

Ive done enough searching to confirm what i was told, that the 1J and 2J arms are not the same, and that the 2J one can be grinded down to work. Would i be able to grind down an aftermarket pulley arm for the 2J, to fit onto my 1J. And ive been searching like a mad man on all the online part stores i can find, but still with no luck. Any and all help is greatly appriciated.

your right, the 1j and 2j arms are not the same, but the idlers are the same. You can buy the 2j pulley and swap the new idler onto your 1j arm (if it hasn't snapped like you suspect).

as for grinding down the 2j arm, I have never heard of that and how would you know when it is the right size?

I would try to find a used arm here and buy the idler from Champion Toyota, if you can rule out the arm.

Randy (BIC) has got one at his shop, where my car is. As soon as i had an issue i called him and went right over there. Both Randy and Bill wernt %100 sure about an aftermarket arm for the 1J. I was hoping to find one but i dont think i will be able to find one.

As for grinding the 2J pully arm, what i thought to do would be to compair the 2J arm to the 1J arm, and take off a little bit at a time, compairing them as you work. Im going to go find that thread and look a little harder

post number 18. Evilempire seems to have done it. So, if it works with an OEM replacement peice, it should work with a little grinding on an aftermarket arm. Sound Preformance sells them, but with all the recent work, i dont have an extra $315 to spend righ now. Looks like used it is.
