the main thing I want to figure out is if I can mix match a 89+ ecu coolant sensor with an 87 style harness. they have different connectors and I understand i sound stupid right now but can a different connector be spliced in to fit the sensor and work?

I have the connector from a junk harness I have laying around and it'll be alot cheaper to do it that way. just saying.

Since the sensors and circuit are electrically identical the answer is yes. I would buy the proper sensor (it's cheap) but that's me. It'll also be more reliable. That's why the EFI system comes direct wired without splices or intermediate connectors.

that's what I figured. I just got back from pick and pull and nabbed one. the 89+ sensor wouldn't work either way because its too long and the power steering reserviour would crush it. I appreciate the feed back
the connector was also in bad shape so I had to go ahead and heatshrink a new one on
