Ok so I recently rebuilt my engine about 8 months ago. New head gasket, all new gaskets, a new head I got from the machine shop, ( the one I had was cracked) new water pump, new piston rings, all that. The down side to all this is that when me and my mechanic finished all this, sadly the car ran real bad. Hesitated when running low 2,000 to 3,000rpm’s. Ok my mechanic bailed on me and never helped me finish the job, I only put about 100 miles or less on the car since it ran so crappy.:3d_frown:

A few months ago I took the car to another mechanic which gave me a diagnosis that I needed a new cam position sensor, and new engine harness. Right now I’m in the stage were I’m almost done with weld and soldering engine harness but want to do more then that. Since iv seen so many stores here in SM about head gaskets and all, I want to go back and get a Metal Head Gasket, and ARP head studs.:aigo:

Now the question is what size should I be looking for, what needs to get done? To give you guys a small background the car only got less than 100 miles on the new head. The head did get resurfaced by the machine shop, the block didn’t get resurfaced. Excuse my lack of knowledge but what do I need to do please help.:1zhelp:

In advance thanks a lot… let me know what you guys think I should do.

First, are you sure you need a MHG? Don't get me wrong, its great insurance, but it's going to cost you to properly put one in.

That brings me to point 2: If you are going to put in a MHG, you're going to need to pull the engine out, tear it down, and have it machined (block and head) all over again. I'd even hone & get new rings & bearings (despite you only 100 miles on them).

the rings in it now prolly are not properly seated either if it was running like shit and you weren't driving it.

well i dont need it, its more of a want thing, like u said for "great insurance." Here is the thing i want to be able to hold power but i dont know how much power my autozone head gasket can hold, and is it even something i can depend on or will i have another BHG a few miles from now.
