IJ had a crazy oil system modifications. Install a full flow oil cooler, remote filter head, and use 0W-30.

Yes he did. I plan on it, but I'm going to be running just a filter right off the bat. Full flow cooler will probably be my first upgrade. And with the 0-30, we'll see what my pressure is with the 40 is first.

So I got a little bit done today. Finished up the harness, and I gotta say.. It looks fantastic! I'm really impressed with how well this harness cleaned up with 2 days work..

Also painted a couple things. Mostly the intake manifold and lower intake, along with the heat shields and started working on the 3k pipe. I dont have pictures of the intake or lower intake yet, but they will come when it comes time to put the head on.

Obviously not finished yet. Gonna polish the 3000 part to a near mirror shine, then paint the rest either gloss black or matte silver.. I'm leaning towards matte silver so it matches the intake and such.

Now I just need to figure out how to paint the throttle body without jamming up the accelerator..

Gonna take a day off from working on the Supra to get my school work done.. School always comes first..

Although today I mounted the exhaust manifold and test fitted the turbo to see if the lines would work.. And they don't. I need a straight -10 fitting... And I'm also going to order a -10 plug and a -4 plug just incase the turbo is blown..

Interesting that the bearings were discontinued, I just bought all my bearings less than a month ago and didn't have any issues. Which ones did they say were discontinued if you don't mind me asking?

Standard sized thrust washers, size 3, 4 and 5 crank bearings, and the size 4 connecting rod bearings. I'm not sure if any others are discontinued but that's just what was discontinued on my order

And since you bought yours less than a month ago that confuses me even more, because he said they were discontinued in something like May 2010. Maybe they were just selling whatever they had in warehouses...

Well I lied. Its gonna be a late night for me. But I did get some work done on the car. Mounted up the intake manifold, and then got the intercooler (much more of a PITA than I originally assumed. And I also figured out im missing one bracket for the intercooler), and piping in, and finally pulled out the driveshaft. We're gettin' there! Also pressure washed the engine bay and the R154.

Note: The head is not bolted to the block. Its just sitting there so I have space to work on it, without having to worry about bending valves. And it also makes me feel further along than I am.. haha

Sorry, I didn't know anybody was still interested in this thread. But yes, its running, and running pretty well. Theres a coolant leak I need to figure out. I believe its coming from the coolant port on the pipe that wraps around the engine, which is a giant PITA to get to. So far i have been running open downpipe because I can't get over the sound it makes. So amazing! :love:

But here's the bad news.... I was at a green light turning left, the light went yellow and I thought the car coming would stop.. So I went, they sped up for the light and clipped my rear bumper at roughly 40 mph. Not too much damage to the supra. It looked really bad with the bumper on, but once I pulled that off it doesn't seem all that bad. Looked at the frame and it appeared to be straight. It seems like the body took the grunt of the impact.

So the plan is to take the supra off the road and uninsure it, and go through the body and fix all dents, and paint the thing. Might even replace the rocker panel while I'm at it. Those two things are the Supras only two downfalls. The rusty rocker and the bad paint. So who knows. Two birds with one stone?

I'm also looking at a 1990 Toyota Celica GT-S for 2200. 5S-FE, 170,000 miles, 5 speed, every option. Although it does have a rusty door, but thats a relatively easy fix.. Anybody know somebody with a red door for a 5th gen celica? :biglaugh:

The other option is a 1994 Toyota Celica ST. 7A-FE, but 260,000 miles. A ridiculous amount of miles, but it seems like the car was taken care of and garaged every single day. The paint is in immaculate condition, as is the interior. It seriously looks brand new. He's asking $1950, but with that amount of miles, I could probably get him down a few hundred.

So I'm going to make a road trip to KC soon. Just don't know when exactly. Hopefully I'll be there before Wednesday.

So which one would you guys go for?

So I decided to just ditch the idea of a second car and focus on the Supra.

So anyway, there's one fault with the GTE swap so far. It likes to backfire inbetween shifts. I thought it would be the TPS out of adjustment, so I pulled the codes, no 51. Ohmed out the TPS, with no shim there was resistance, same with a .5mm shim, and then infinite with the .9mm shim. I double and triple checked this.

Then I noticed that the dashpot diaphragm thing that screws to the throttle body was loose, so I tightened that up, and adjusted the dashpot. Having no tach (since its still an N/A tach), I just tried to mimic my old N/A throttle bodies dashpot movement. If that makes sense.

So I took it out for a drive, and everything seems normal. Then I hit boost a little (no where near WOT) and I go to shift and whaddya know.. It backfires. I have no idea what could be causing it to run rich inbetween shifts. Completely bone stock where it matters (stock AFM, stock turbo, stock bov whatever. The only aftermarket parts are the pistons (NPRs) and the headgasket (Titan MHG)). It never did this when I had my TPS disconnected due to it not working.. Could it be a bad TPS?

I'm working on getting parts to fix it. The explanation is a couple posts back. Unfortunately there were no cameras so the insurance company will deem it my fault.. even though there was plenty of room.. and plenty of time for the pt cruiser to stop.

I'm Gonna rebuild it. The only thing is the right frame rail is slightly bent. Other than that I can pop the dent out.. hopefully when I have the frame straightened the kink on the other side will pull out too. I'll probably have to do body work on that side though.
