Change the cap every year, it only costs $6.

Run a 180* thermostat.

Fan clutch must work properly. Or go with high volume electric fan (s).

Electric water pump is expensive, and not worth it unless you have $$$ to burn.

On our cars, don't use washers to raise the hood. Just remove the rubber seal on the body at the back of hood. This will give a gap about an inch all the way across, and [strike]let hot air out[/strike]. Actually, it's a high pressure area, so it lets cool air in -- SC

Make sure your heater hoses and others are in good condition, and clamps tight.
