temp guage suddenly spiked up!!

i was driving today and notice my temp guage spiked all the way up and i was so pissed and kept driving and it went back to normal so quick..any idea why this happen?

yea i notice there is a loose wire on the thermo houses its blue ..i need to take some pics..
