tighten in the correct sequence, and tighten them all the way (they will bottom out, can't go any further)

exactly when i had my targa supra (ive got a hardtop now) never had squeeks.. but you have to install it correctly there is a pattern.. go by this pattern by snugging them in the pattern then go back and tighten them down if done correctly no squeeking....

if you pull the sunvisor down the pattern to go by is there above the sunvisor...

cant remember exactly but do know tighten back ones first then front..

I believe the correct proceedure is to insert the targa roof, snug up the back bolts, then snug up the front bolts... this centers the entire assembly. Then tighten the back bolts down and then tighten the front ones down.

That hope for sunshine and blueskies again soon...

EDIT: Or use AF's ninja post...

my targa tool was missing the base so i just stuck it in a 6mm ratchet, and now it works fine and is a lot easier.

my targa was squeaky until i tightened it. boy, did it bother me until i finally figured out it was my targa. i miss my hardtop.

this is very simple...

and don't "snug" then tighten, tighten ALL THE WAY or the alingment isn't right and it doesn't load the seals properly (LEAKS!!)

Slide targa in, pushing it back and then drop the front down. Tighten the two back ones, and then tighten the DRIVER'S SIDE then the PASSENGER SIDE. This is VERY important! Tightening out of sequence will cause leaks, but even worse is it can STRIP the threads in the targa. The driver's side is fixed, and the passenger side has a slider to allow for some play in the entire assembly. It HAS to be tightened last or the others won't line up right and it will strip.
