Tail Light Gasket Sealant?

Hey,

Getting ready to install some new tail light seals and was wondering do I need to put any silicone sealant(FIPG) around them? I see the new ones have some kinda of sealant but is it enough?

I just traced the light with general weatherstripping from the hardware store. Used the black high density foam, 3/8w x 1/4 tall. Cost 14 bucks, no leaks. It is important on where you start/finish the seal, and how tight you make them meet.

I bought new toyota gaskets when I installed my JDM tails last may. Bolted the tails on snug, and so far, so good.

tail light gaskets are cheap...i just recently replaced mine.

yup there very cheap, i got mine from champion. did you use any kind of sealant nocturnalkitty?

When I replaced mine, I used a small bit of flexible rtv for good measure. Toyota uses a sealant for sure as I have documentation as to when mine were replaced by P.O. and there was an RTV-ish substance all around the gaskets.

My old gaskets were turning into dust. Literally.
