Swapping seats.

My cousin got an 88 Civic hatch for his first car. The seats in it are all ripped to shit so I want to swap in some seats the generous Chriso donated.

I took his old seats out to check the brackets and they're way off compared to the supra seat brackets.

So, how do I go about making new brackets? I was thinking for the rear brackets just drilling a whole through the floor and securing it with some heavy duty bolts/nuts. for the front brackets I want to mount it to the "Hump" where the originals were mounted, but I dont know how Ill be able to get a nut behind there to secure the seat with.

Anyone have some suggestions?

Can you fabricate a bracket to come off of the factory brackets to go right into the floor of the civic????? Also drilling right into the floor and bolting it makes me nervous. I would wonder how well the seats would hold in a major accident??????? Thats the cautious me talking. The real me has done that before in a 54 f100 shortbox I had. It worked fine but then I never wrecked.
Past that, from previous posts you seem to be pretty handy I am sure you will figure it out.

I was thinking about using some metal bars I have laying around to fab some makeshift brackets out of. They would screw into the stock mounts and then the supra seat would screw into the plate. That would be for the front "Hump" brackets. The rears would still be through the floor, Its pretty thick. I think it will hold in a wreck with some heavy brass nuts and bolts securing it.

I thought brass was supposed to be tuff shit.

Ill put some research into it, Im going with the best of what home depot has to be honest. So its gonna come down to availability.

I might have a new digicam by the time I do this so Ill put up some pics if I do.
