I just picked up a set of rims for my car. By doing so, I've decided to compliment the new wheels with a new suspension setup. What I want is comfort FIRST and performance second. The car is mostly a cruiser with the occasional mountain twisties thrown in. How does this sound?

-Tanabe Sustec sways
-Tanabe springs (slightly higher spring rate than the Suspension Techniques)
-Koni yellow shocks

(Wheels are 17x8 F and 17x9 R, by the way)

From what I've found through research, there's only four shocks for our cars. The KYB's aren't much better than stock, the Tokico's are trash and the Bilstein's ride too hard. Do you guys think that's an accurate assesment?

Coilvers are nice but I'm not really that into them. Adjusting the height is a pain and I don't see myself doing it that often. As long as the car isn't scraping the ground, I'll be happy.

Feel free to substitute parts in my choices, I want the best setup possible.

I got Tokico Illumina's on Eibach springs. The car rides really nice and it is comforable. I had H&R springs and the car used to bottom out quite often.

Am very satisfied with my current setup

I also had H&R springs, and don't get them if you want a comfortable ride. I've upgraded to Tein coilovers since then, and the ride is surprisingly compliant.

If you're looking for comfort, don't go with too much of a drop; much more than 3/4"-1" of a drop and the stiffness of the springs will be ramped up so much ride quality will suffer.

The koni yellow struts are the ones I had paired with my H&Rs, and they seemed too soft. However, they are adjustable, and seem well-suited to springs closer to stock height.

For the cost of springs and struts, you're often close to 3/4 of the way to a coilover set. In my opinion, the benefit of a good coilover setup is not the height adjustability, but the fact that the springs will be well matched to the damping, much like a stock setup (when new). And with an adjustable setup, you can get that match at different heights. This is something that is hard to do with separate springs & struts, as even the adjustable konis are only adjustable off the car. And even fully stiff, the konis don't like the shortened stroke, and were way too bouncy with the H&Rs.

Have you checked the parts reviews section here on the forum? You may find some good info there...
