everyone likes pictures. throw up a Gallery (http://gallery.menalto.com/ or something similar) where people can upload/post pics and write comments.

sign up to become an affiliate for some of the performance shops online, like i'm sure summitracing.com has an affiliate program. maybe HPF has one? not sure. then you can highlight products specifically for our cars in a banner or something with an affiliate link and you can even make a little money while pointing people to quality products, or use the funds to better your website.

i got another idea... make a product review section

where people can post how much time it took to install, how much performance they got out of it, their own pictures of it installed, etc.

All of these are great ideas everyone.

And it looks like i should add a poll to this according to the biggest ideas that ive received responses on.

I know for a fact i am going to offer write ups with pictures, and i know im going to offer all TSRM's for supras that they made in an online & PDF version. Thats downloadable and printable.

but i dont know if i should include comments/reviews on writeups or such.

Yeah, the ability to make the actual TSRM searchable is going to be a long shot considering the TSRM thats in pdf format is all just images w/ no real text. But im working on the ability to actually search for keywords in the TSRM.

The main key features the site will offer are:
  1. Searchable TSRM Content
  2. PDF Downloadable Versions of Each Year Released
  3. Word Document Versions of each year released
  4. Easy print capabilities
  5. User System to log your recent TSRM pages you visited
  6. How-To Tutorial Pages w/ pictures and comment system

So far thats what ive worked up for the site, im sure ill have a ton of other things not mentioend

edit:
Im having troubles sourcing the ability to actually convert the PDF's to html Text. It just wants to convert all the pages to jpg images. The search feature might be a long shot.. but still never the less it should be fairly easier to navigate.

it wont convert to text, the PDF is considered an image and there are all of those diagrams and images that it wont convert. It just simply converts each page into a .jpeg file and makes an HTML page load all of them at once.

Ive got adobe acrobat & the entire adobe line of products on my laptop.. it wont do it..

You'd have to manually type out most of it, which could be done, but would be an undertaking.

I'm still working on getting a nice searchable EPC database setup with cross-reference up-to-date pricing and searching, etc, with proper month/year information, but I haven't really done much with that yet.

Jeff that would be a very good system if you could get it running. Im willing to provide space and bandwidth for you if your willing to do the work.

I never thought about something like that..
It would be fairly simple to undertake a project for the EPC, just use a mySQL Database to store all the descriptions/keywords, part #'s, prices etc. and use PHP to search the DB for the keywords or part #'s..

edit:
im using OCR to recognize text in the PDF's hopefully it will turn out well and raster all the images into text where possible so it might be a bit easier. Ill update in a few hrs..

The problem I'm seeing is how to get all the information out of the EPC program I have and into a database, I'm not really sure how, but I'm gonna take a look at the source files on the CDs, etc. I'll keep this updated.

if you want zip the program and upload it to my server, i can take a looksie. What are the file names of the items on the cd? It might be as simple as converting things.

I have programs to go from ms access > excel > mysql. It should be pretty easy :). Let me know
