Drill a hole in the backing plate big enough for the stud to come out and hammer it out and then slide the new one in. Put some washer on and and lug nut and tighten it till it's flat with the back of the hub.

If you don't want to drill a hole in the backing( which won't cause any issues) then you basically need to pull the hub off and completely disassemble it pretty much. 10x easier to just drill a hole.

I did the same thing, but got lots of grief about "not doing it right." I used a dremel tool to cut a hole into the dust/heat shield and tapped the broken studs out one at a time, through the hole. Ideally, you want to find/have a large enough grommet to close the hole. I did not completely cut the hole out and was able to fold the flap of metal back into place somewhat. Took about 20 minutes. Good luck.

FYI, the TRSM calls for removing and almost disassembling the entire hub. Maybe 3 hours, if you're lucky.
