Steering Wheel Conversion

I have an 88 mk3 N/A, I am trying to find out how to do a steering wheel upgrade, i want to change out my 88 wheel with a newer 89 one, I've got the wheel, light switch, cruise control relay, and the control panel that sits to the left of the steering wheel, I have herd of people doing this on more than one occasion. It should be plug and play. Did it to my buddys 87 with the wheel off my 89. The 88 and 89 have the same features on the wheel. 90+ has a different wheel with air bag and 90+ has a different control panel to the left of the wheel. 89- has the same panel for fog lights and such.

Sure you got a 3 spoke wheel and not a 4?
