Hi guys,

A mate and I took apart a steering rack, cleaned it, replaced all the seals and put it back together. However, when we did the air test, it leaks from the rack end where the control valve sits.

The problem is that the oil seal closest to the control valve, is kinking on either of the two ports when we are trying to seat it in. As a result the OD of the seal is losing some rubber, and leaking.

We tried twice. Firstly we did as the TSRM said, and seated the oil seal and spacer in first, and then put the rack in. Secondly seated it on the rack first, then hamered in the rack. Both took small chucks off the OD.

Is there any tips on seating this in properly, without busting up the seal?
