In the process of replacing my steering rack on 1990 turbo w/pps. Following TSRM - locked steering wheel with seat belt but when I went to remove universal bolts to slide shaft off the rack gearing housing I realized that both universal bolts face down toward the ground. The bolt connecting the universal to the rack gear is inaccessible in this position. If I turn the steering wheel one complete half turn (so it is upside down) the bolts face upward like it shows in the TSRM and both are easily accessible. How do I remove the these bolts, install the new rack and have my steering wheel staight with a working spiral cable when I'm finished.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

dont worry about the steering wheel at first. first, get the bolts loose. then once they are loose, lock the steering wheel in the center.

also, upon reassembly, make sure that if the supra's steering wheel linkage doesnt have a notch in the splines to make sure that the rack is in the center of its travel (both tie-rod lengths are the same) most racks have a notched spline, so they can only go in one position, but ive never personally seen a supra's.
