Okay I primed the engine for about 1 minute in 15 second burst until pressure showed up on the gauge. Started it and saw a puff of white smoke, let it idle for 5 mins and then shut it off. However, I don't know if this is the proper way to prime a new turbo.

Well, you should put a small amount in the oil intake, as per Toyota specs. Just to splash it.

What you did is just fine, and you should do that after oil changes. How did you halt the injection process?

my process: pull EFI fuse, put feed in a bottle, crank til there's oil flowing out of it, fill turbo w/oil (spin it a few times!), reconnect feed, fire up....let idle for a while.

These are my exact steps:

1. Pulled EFI and unplugged coils.
2. Primed until pressure showed up in 15 sec burst.
3. Put back EFI and plugged in coils.
4. Fire up engine and let it idle for 5 mins, saw a puff of white smoke in the beginning.
5. Shut off the engine because I was too scared to take it for a test drive.
6. Posted thread on supramania.

But yeah, I should have taken off the feedline to see if there was actually oil. How long does it usually take for there to be oil in the feedline?

I hope I didn't screw up the turbo.
