A common problem. I know when I was poking around looking for details on how to fix mine I found some really good threads. That was about a year ago, but they're still out there no doubt, including walk-throughs, pics, and where to go to get the parts. 20 minutes searching and reading and you should be all set.

Pull the speedo cable out where it comes out of the tranny. Spin it and have someone watch it at the other end. The cable comes apart in a couple pieces, so you can test in sections.
I ended up swapping my whole cable, but the problem layed in the snapped cable in the elbow piece comming from the trans (auto>manual swap). Eliminated that section (didn't need it anyways), and succeess, working speedo. :)
If you're gonna end up swapping a cable, make sure to run some oil through it before installation for a nice steady needle.
