getting closer to moving along with the project just waiting for a few more parts in the mail. Anyways I got qouted by the machine shop for disameble and re asemble of the short block(bottom end and head) for about 2 grand with all new gaskets, pump, rings and such...though this price could go up or down depends on what happens when we all tear it apart....Anyways main question is where the hell do u bolt on to the engine with a cherry picker to pull this sucker out???

There is a hook next to the alternator and a hook by the turbo.

ur belt is going over the front one and it appears that you might have taken the back on off, or it just didnt fit in the picture
ok i think I c the front one u speak of where the alternator is sopuses to go( but is that really going to support the whole engine without breaking?) and I don't c the other one.....

There should be another one at the end of the exhaust camcover near the hose that goes to the back of the head.

those hooks you put a chain on...

I'm sure the front one could handle the entire engine, but you'd never EVER get the engine out that way...

that with the machine shop assemblying the short block(head and bottom end)

Man thats way to high, $1500 i could understand but too me that would still be a few hundred to high $800 parts to be fair and $500 in labor would be right for a stock build .......

Umm it cost me like 150 to rebuild my head
Gasket Kit $200
Piston Rings 70
Oil Pump $120
Rod Bearings- $45
Main Bearings $60
Arp head bolts $100

I guess you are ok with $1255 in labor ......

Not trying to knitpick, but thats a long block, a short block would be just the block and pistons. Long block is the block with the head attached.

And 2,000 seems a bit high to me too, how much machine work and are they rebuilding the head, replacing vavles etc, or no

It would be different if he said a performance build with forged pistons/rods or even new stock pistons/rods.

To me it sounds more like a clean up where they take it apart, clean, hone, add new rings, add new bearings, valve job, resurface the block and hopefully the head too and send it out the door.

Not worth $2000 another reason people should search and check around so they can be a more informed consumer lol
