Yeapp.Happened last night..Ive put approx.5k miles on my JDM motor since its been in the car. I torqured the headbolts to 72ft/lbs before i installed as well.
I have the wg shimmed to about 11 psi but last night with it being cold i hit boost cut once passing someone on a 2 lane hwy.Once i came to a stop it started sputtering at idle but seemed to run fine once i started driving..Then after i dropped my friend off i pulled to a redlight and a HUGE cloud of smoke smothered the entire intersection. My temp gauge started rising so i had to sit and wait for the light to turn green, so some asshole cop pulls me over(which i was already doing..duh) and i tell him i just got a BHG and so then he searches my car saying he smells weed???lol..His partener even gives me some kind of goofy ass marijuana test to see if ive been smoking and then bitches at me about how other drivers couldnt see in the intersection.(i was thinking "No fucking shit u asshole i just got a bhg")

Not sure which way i am going to go with this as i am about to start school again monday and i have to find a job to work around my schedule. I have an extra composite gasket i might just slap on there and grab some arps studs as well. I dont really want to cut into my savings thats for school to the the head completely done, get studs and a MHG..and who knows if it would even seal with the block not resurfaced...
UGGGHHH..Maybe it'll just sit in my driveway until i can get the cheese to do it all right..Sorry, just my gay ass experience at 1am last night.

There's no way I'd put it back on if I wasn't going to do it right. It will just break down on you again. Do it right one time. Defiately get the ARP studs, torque them down to 80psi with a good metal head gasket. Good luck and I bet you can find a thousand posts on doing this the right way.

Sorry to hear. Don't derail any funds from your school budget. Leave the supra and buy a beater for school until you can do it right.

Minimum I would take the head to the machine shop and have it checked for straightness. You could get it resurfaced and cleaned for around $90. Slap on that composite with ARP's and call it a day. My suggestion would be to tone that boost down and use the car as a daily driver until you can afford to get another DD. That's if you want to do it the cheapest way now until you can afford to do it the better way.

Bummer! I agree, don't rob school funds to fix it AND if you don't fix it right this time, it WILL happen again and will probably worse the second time!

Sorry man...

Good luck with school!:icon_bigg

Well the good thing is i still have my civic that was supossed to be my DD from the beginning but once i got the supra running, it was just so dammed fun it just turned into my dd lol. I talked to my dad today and he might loan me some money to get the right parts for the job..
I think i might just take the whole motor out again as i need to fix an oil pan leak as well and i i'll be checking the bearings for any wear.I might even throw in an ARZ hard oil line kit as well for some extra oil flow.
Im so dissappointed, the car had been running so strong since ive had it together and then disaster last night.. My synthetic oil only has like 1k miles on it too.
I knew this would happen someday..just not tonight. Its not the end of the world tho...I know for sure i'll be getting some studs..just not so sure if i'll use the composite gasket or get the MGH. It'll be back tho 4 sho
