The only way to legally get a FFIM in a mkiii, is to swap a USDM 2JZGTE.

There are no CARB approved intake manifolds for the 7M. You would have to find a tech, that would smog it with his eyes closed and wallet open.

Not going to pass without EGR no matter what. Plus, most FFIM are welded sheet metal which aren't legal in Cali. at all.

how do they tell if its smog legal? is there a sticker or plate on the intake mani.?

Yes anything that is a legal aftermarket part will have a CARB EO # usually welded to the part. Or sometimes a sticker near the part, but they always have an easy way to identify and confirm its use.

Once a technician finds an aftermarket part, then he has to find the EO #, and verify it is made for the vehicle it is in.

The manufacturer has to pay for lengthy testing to prove their part will not affect the vehicles smog performance. And its not cheep, thats why approved parts are so expensive.

If anyone wants to look up some approved parts here is the link.
