today I'm my way home from as I was getting on the highway I spotted a 240sx cursing seeing as I didn't think he had a turbo I pulled in behind him and gave him a head start ;) ass soon as he was 2 car lengths ahead I started to real him in and boom I had hit 100+ mph and was gone just as soon as I slow down I see in my rearview mirror a black gti speeding up so I kick it out of over drive and hit 6k rpms and started to pull away but he did stay up with me till 110 then he slowed and so did i.. I hit my exit and we both gave the thumbs up and parted ways
my set up is 89 supra 1jz stock twins at 10psi with 3" exhaust and down pipe with a built 340e

I had to stop for air twice during that first sentence. Either I'm getting older or sentences are getting longer.

There's a guy here locally that most MKIII's can't mess with. It's a project car for a VW place and his car has the best of everything. Nice kill on the 240, but I'm not sure you can claim the GTI as a kill if you didn't line up side by side. I'm going to have to check my local street racing rule book, but I'm pretty sure around here, it wouldn't qualify.

I know a few vdubs that would whoop my ass but what do you expect a 84 gti weighs as much as my 20" rims hahahaha

Well there's your problem, unsprung weight is a killer. ;)

That's kind of surprising to hear. Friend has an 88T and an 04 VR6 6 speed GTI. MKIII would start edging out the Golf around 40, both cars bone stock. We put 2.5" hard pipes, an open 3" down pipe and set the boost to 10PSI and the MKIII yanks the Golf pretty hard now.

I remember a GTI being an 11.0:1 motor and having boost on top of that some years ago, maybe 2007ish? If you could crank a bit more boost out of it, I could easily see it being a good fight for a Mk3 that isn't heavily modded.
