signs of a bad midshaft bearing

what are the tell tale signs of a bad midshaft bearing i have a humming noise coming from the rear of my car and i am having the hardest time determining what it really could be i dont want to buy the wrong thing....

the humming only happens during acceleration seems to be only when the rear end has power load,

i take it out of gear or put in clutch noise completely stops.

i just dont want to buy a rear differential and find out that it wasnt the problem.

Mid shaft?

Check for play in the carrier bearing on the ds. Can do the same for the diff if you unbolt the ds.
