Damn it, my 1jz shuts off completely after pressing the clutch at times... and my clutch pedal vibrates nasty. i havent gotten the chance to get underneath it, having 2 jobs sucks. but anyways i dunno what it can be... i just wanna see if u guys have a good idea where i should start to troubleshoot. it idles perfect at 1000rpms but once i press clutch in, the idle goes down to 500rpms and at time shuts off, and it makes a nasty sound when the pedal is being pressed in... thanx a bunch for the feedback....

Sounds like a clutch hub failure. The reason it dies is you're grinding the release fork against the spinning pressureplate... Pull inspection plates to confirm.

Try to take good pictures when you find something. Poodles sounds right with a clutch hub problem, hopefully anyway. Otherwise you could be looking at some bad crankwalk.

I don't know if it's the clutch fork itself though touching the pressure plate with pedal application unless somehow the pivot/fork itself is broken. Does that happen?

Maybe it'll just be a really screwed up throwout bearing or pressure plate fingers.

What happens is the hub is incorrectly assembled. When it's incorrectly assembled, the snap ring will spin in it's groove, slowly machining it's way to failure. Once it's free, the slave will overextend and push the fork into the edge of the pressure plate.

Or you could have the bolts on the fork fulcrum work their way loose to get the same issue.

Only way to know is to look...

I assembled my snap ring setup wrong on the pressure plate and that caused the hub to spin with the pressure plate, which made it vibrate and hit the clutch fork and the the clutch pedal would vibrate when it was pressed.
