holy shit just went through all the stuff i missed about you got hx52 wtf. So what did you do with the 35 stuff do you still have it?
I ended up selling the hx35 to a guy on one of the Facebook pages. Would have been nice just to keep it as a decorative piece like my ct26 pen holder but it was too expensive.
Engine is still apart. I bought a truck so I'll have to put it on hold a little longer

Nice truck bud
Thanks man. Saved up and waited for the right deal, usually they come up when you aren't looking.
Much better than financing something, Ive never had a payment and don't plan to. Much less headache imo

so far heres what i have done to the block and head at the shop.

honed, balanced rotating assembly with 7m crank, resurface block and head if needed (30ra or better), polish crank and clean.

so with the hx52 being a higher rpm turbo, im looking into some valve springs to get me into higher rpms.
i came across the GSC beehive springs/retainers which i dont know anything about. looks like they use the factory spring seats and come with TI retainers.
74lbs at Seat
174lbs at 0.400in

my other option is a dual valve spring kit which from what ive read requires retainers and spring seats.

any recommendations?

just saw that stevies3 is selling bc valve springs in the fs section. should jump all over it, good price.
Unfortunately they are single valve springs. Thanks for the heads up though!
I purchased a set of supertech dual springs, titanium retainers. They were 40% off and only had 2 sets left. I looked at the reviews and only came across for a 2jz, sounds like they are decent springs

Now to wait for the head to get back so I can measure the shims/buckets. I plan to run Shimless Buckets also, I don't want to be spitting out shims at high rpms!

Springs showed up at their shop today. Hopefully I can pick up everything be the end of next week and start assembling.

Big stack of parts on the engine table just waiting to be put on. It's been too long since this thing has been running!

Engine is finished at the machine shop so I'll have them ship it down as soon as send the payment. Work interfered with their hours otherwise I'd drive there.

I also fixed the rust/ corrosion under the factory battery location. I pained both sides to match, gloss black with clear. I plan to do the entire engine bay eventually but figured this will do.

Called them this morning and sounds like they will take care of it. I'll need a new set of pistons and have the block and timing cover surfaced. Worse case I'd have to pay shipping I think.

It's too bad they came like this, the head looked perfect too. Wonder if a different person worked on the head

Hopefully the current block will be able to get surfaced but they feel deep. I have doubts on the timing cover too as the gasket surfaced was media blasted

Figured I'd set up the head and check clearances for Shimless Buckets while I wait to hear from the machine shop. I'll give them a call tomorrow if I don't hear back.

Ordered a set of Shimless Buckets and dropped the block off locally to get surfaced.

It's cost more money to ship it down and back then to do the actual work. Having them also check out the pistons to see if they are usable. Will report back to the first machine shop to see what they want to do.

Relocated my oil thermostat and filter block. Now it's not all in the engine bay

Also scored a set of je pistons.. Maybe it's time for rods too while I'm at it!
