Well I got the alternator tester at two places. The first place was iffy so I went to anothr place.
The second shop said it had 14.5 volts and 90 amps while on the machine they had...so the alternator is fine.
I finally fired it up again.
The number 5 cylinder still knocks, but the power steering works again...so I don't know whats up with that.
My only urgent question is can I drive it on 5 cylinders without making it worse? I just need to get to the toyota dealership shop and back, which is a 6 minute drive one way...
It has to be rod knock, I dont know what else would be that loud and only be there for the 5th cylinder?
Also, when it was running on 5 cylinders it worked okay, the fan spun and everything looked okay. There was a ticking sound at around 8-1000 rpm that went away after 1200 rpm and below 600 rpm?? Pretty sure it's not the injectors...
Anyone?
