So i blew a head gasket about 3weeks ago parked the car as soon as it showed any type of signs.

Took the car to get checked at a shop they confirmed it was the head gasket.

Well i took off the head today to find this.

The Gasket wasn't torn at all but by the number 6 cylinder it has a slit that you can see right threw.

my question because im not to well educated on head gaskets is that enough to be considered a blown head gasket or do i have a different problem.

Post pics of hg cause in that one pic to me it looks like both sides of the coolant jackets are blown. Any deformation means its blown.

like this:

Thats off my car a few weeks ago. Compessrion was 150-160 across but blew coolant like crazy until the combustion let go with boost.

yA no6 was def blown.

Also you should always drain all the coolant so you dont mix more than you have to in the oil.

There is deformation on the rear of the gasket. Check for cracks on the block and head and bare min pressure check and machine head.

the head goes to the machine shop in the morning. I did look over the head and block but didnt see anything that stood out to me.

Just praying its only the gasket.

Even if it wasnt blown, it was on it's way. Good thing you found it early and not when it was in pieces.

im just afraid its something bigger cause it was losing coolant and blew out white smoke once on me. so i parked it until i could go get it checked out.

now seeing the gasket it made me believe it could be a bigger problem so i seeked for your guys opinions.

I think it goes without saying that you should get that oil out of there yesterday. Never a bad idea to inspect the bottom end and make sure your bearings are in good shape still too. Also be a good time to replace the oil pump if that's original too...

Mine ate about a gallon every 25 miles or so. Didnt smoke until right before i replaced it. Towed it to my dads and now its good to go. Changed the oil Which didnt look bad as it never mixed.

Sometimes it seems worse than it really is.

#6 was definately out of round and was pushed into the coolant passage. That's definately not the original gasket either, as it came off in one piece.
